pH: 6.9 (evening)
Temp:
KH: 5
GH: 8
NH4:
NO2:
NO3: 5 (evening)
PO4: 0.5 < x < 1.0 (evening)
Dosing: 10 mL Flourish, 50 mL OLD Flourish Iron, 25 mL KNO3 (5 ppm NO3), 20 mL KH2PO4 (0.6 ppm PO4)
Notes:
50% morning water change:

  • 15 mL Amquel+
  • 10 mL Flourish
  • 3 tsp Equilibrium
  • 2.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp Epsom salts
  • 25 mL KNO3
  • 20 mL KH2PO4

I put several drops of Amquel+ into the OLD flourish bottle, which acts as a reducer on the iron (from Fe3+ to Fe2+) and turned the liquid from a dark brown to a transparent light green.

Also, the second black molly, who had been suffering from the excess CO2 from the previous day, died today. I had a secret wish to get rid of those mollies, since they weren’t doing anything to get rid of the surface film, and I don’t particularly care for mollies, so I guess my wish was fulfilled…

I officially declared the java moss dead as of today. It just slowly turned brown from the start, perhaps the light source was too much for the moss. I pulled it out.

This week, I’m going to try to up the dosage of the Flourish from 5 mL to 10 mL daily to see if that gives any boost to the plants, especially the stargrass.
