Date: 2/7/06
pH: 6.8 (morning)
Temp:
KH:
GH: 7
NH4:
NO2:
NO3: 5-10
PO4: 0.2-0.5 (before dosing)
Dosing: 10 mL Flourish, 50 mL Flourish Iron, 25 mL KH2PO4 (0.75 ppm PO4)
Notes:
Got the Eheim Surface Suction Extractor today and installed it in the tank. It did the job immediately, getting rid of the surface film.
The GH also dropped a degree. The plants must be taking up the Ca/Mg.
I opened up my third 250 mL bottle of Flourish Iron, which at the rate I’m dosing, should only last less than a week. I can’t wait till the 5 pound bag of iron chelate comes in the mail (Sprint 330). I had tried unsuccessfully to look for it at the local hydroponics and garden supply stores. Finally, I ordered it online from http://www.amleo.com for $50 including shipping.
I tried out some dried seaweed, clipping it against the aquarium wall to see if the otos or SAEs liked it. Everyone pretty much ignored it. I'll probably try a couple more times before giving up on it.
